I was upset but i think the problem was that the item was packaged in a folded box with a sad excuse for tape on it the first time

Teeth in the socket are formed to transfer pressure away from the sharp edges of the nut to the flat face which reduces the chance of rounding the edges of the nut if the socket slips that unfortunately limits the amount of torque that can be safely applied without compromising the wall of the socket

It is also much more compact and easier to use than 6point impactrated sockets but for hightorque applications it would be entirely unsuitable
