There is a proper wrench to do the job perhaps the other reviewer didnt read his hayneschilton manual on just how to do it but im sure if you did an online search you could find instructions

The jaw of it is meant to encompass the 4 small bolts holding the water pump pulley thus preventing the engine side from turning
