This story, while lengthy enough, seems very small and focused way too tightly into a small period of time.

The pace of plot movement is glacial. Following the adventures of the main protagonists was to me fairly tedious and rapidly predictable. The characters are absurd and shallow.

Note: the kindle version is poorly rendered with numerous typos, missing lines and repeated text.
It does have some subtlety and it hangs together wonderfully well.
