The pace of plot movement is glacial. Following the adventures of the main protagonists was to me fairly tedious and rapidly predictable. The characters are absurd and shallow.

Note: the kindle version is poorly rendered with numerous typos, missing lines and repeated text.
It does have some subtlety and it hangs together wonderfully well.
