It says hd in the title which means that it can accept hd inputs but in no way is it capable of projecting an hd image

It is sd quality which if you are showing dvds is fine qualitywise

I found on the couple of times i used it that cartoons show much better than a superhero movie since the former is typically much brighter overall

Keep in mind that it does need to be nearly dark to get a good picture but thats kind of the point of outdoor movies
