The frequency control only limits what is passed to the subwoofer it does not change what is sent to the array speakers

The sub volume control only reduces the low end frequencies in the entire signal so you can use it to pull the high end out of the top speakers but you will also be removing it from the subwoofer therefore lowering the percieved output of the subwoofer
