Pros & Cons
Pros
These mics require a bit of eq and mixing into your desk. If you've got a mixer with a couple of parametric eqs or maybe with 2 sweepable mids, you should be able to dial in decent sounds. I use these with a qsc touchmix and they sound phenomenal.
The rim clips are the weakest link, but they are easily replaced. The * are actually quite nice. The handles are very comfortable. The xlrconnector is very easy to install.
Tom/snare mics great quality hoop-mount dynamic mics. For the casual drummer for gigs 2-3 times a month these are great.
Kick mic isn't too tubby or too scooped. Great set of mics, the kick is def worth the package.
Cons
Build quality on all mics is terrible; mostly loose, flimsy plastic. The mic clips are plastic and lose their grip on the drums very easily. One of the snare/tom mics was a lemon, so there's that. Never got a decent sound out of it.
Highlights
Quality
Very warm sounding, the condensors are clean and crisp, case is awesome and modifiable, clips are sturdy and snug.
So easy to setup, clips 'seem' like they will snap as they mount to the rim of your drums, but they are molded with a perfect polymer.
If you're eventually gonna look for good sound quality, start with this set and then swap mics out.
As of february 2020, one of the mics started picking up this nasty distorted buzz.
Price
A bargain in performance for the price!
Good value for little money, sounds good,
I expected crappy hardware for 120 bucks.
These are easily worth $600 to $800 dollars.
Competitiveness
They work better than 2 different low cost types that broke during install.
:-) if you haven't got the cash for the 'better' kits, this one is absolutely the best mic kit for the price.
And i was actually very please with the sound and build quality, these mics delivered very good sound for a fraction of the pri... Read More
One issue i came across is that one of the condenser mics had a static/hissing sort of noise nonstop, which made it unusable, b... Read More
