Pros & Cons
Pros
The 14-inch diameter offers ample cooking surface for family-sized meals. Large diameter is great for frying larger amounts of food without overcrowding. Fourteen inch interior cooking surface is a lot of real estate to heat evenly.
Cast iron cookware is fairly heavy, but this pan from rachel ray seems a bit lighter in weight than our other cast iron pan. The handles on each side are sturdy and give you plenty of grip to feel secure in moving it. It's very heavy but the handles a... Read More
It has a slick feeling, dark finish that is designed to be scrubbed if needed. The enameled exterior finish looks nice.
The manual says metal tools (and soapy water) for clean up! Cleaning and seasoning was also the exact same as with a lodge cast iron. It even comes with a booklet to inform you the proper way to season the pan.
Cons
It is a coated 12 cast iron pan, but, it does not act like an old fashioned castiron pan.
Highlights
Quality
Cast iron pans are amazing and will last a lifetime if you take care of them.
It is a very heavy, well-made pan.
It cooks more like a non-stick pan- this may be because of the nitro heat treatment advertised in the product description.
Racheal ray branded rust resistant cast iron pan is made using a process called nitro heat treatment.
Price
This is definitely on the higher end price tag at $180 for a 14 inch skillet.
I feel that it is a great value.
Price was a little over the top but that's because of the name i think.
Get this pan, it's worth the $55 price.
Shipping
I am deducting a star for the environmental impact of the shipping.
Packaging/appearance
First thing we did was open the box, then we cleaned it (that's important) and then immediately tossed a couple of steaks in th... Read More
Amazon dropped off a huge box that felt like it weighed a hundred pounds and i tried to think about what it could be.
Very overpackaged for shipping which is something that i would like to see addressed.
Packaging was nice, so it could be considered giftable.
Competitiveness
I wouldn’t expect anything less with this well-known brand and it shows with quality and the price tag.
Comparing this to my lodge pans it's on par, i'd say.
