Pros & Cons
Pros
The rachio app is a weather-based sprinkler controller. Amp; u can even install your own temptest weather station.
The rachio seems to take care of everything like a charm. The app is very well designed too. A couple of really nice convenience features:1) programming and controlling the unit via the mobile app.
The rachio 3 is sleek and installation was a breeze. Taking off my old dinosaur unit was easy enough. Very easy to program.
Cons
The app interface is so simple that it is almost useless. It takes forever to go through the process of connecting to the wi-fi. P2p setup is hard but where everything is good (wifi, solid app, existing controller), this is unacceptable. Purchased the... Read More
No matter any troubleshooting steps. Help instructions are fruitless. This is exactly how you lose loyal customer base.
The spray and rotors in the back only spray out about 15 feet, but when walking through the yard this morning, it was very saturated up to 30 feet from the house. My inclination is to do a quick run but then will it skip it's cycle tomorrow morning? M... Read More
Highlights
Quality
Easy to setup, easy to program and love the auto weather adjustments.
It is very well-designed and works flawlessly with your existing system.
I hated it as the wifi controls were extremely slow and never worked right.
The app is horrible and very quirky at best.
Price
It will be very interesting to see the savings over the course of the summer, but as the rate it is going it will soon pay for itself.
I was using a toro evolution controller, i had to buy two more parts for wi-fi connection and smart phone access which costed n... Read More
Shipping
Came in handy when we were in kenya for 2 weeks and learned our home area was receiving heavy rains for a week.
Packaging/appearance
I went from a rainbird undependable box to my new rachio box.
Competitiveness
The rachio replaced my defunct rainmachine wifi controller and it works great so far.
I located the rachio units outside so i also purchased the weatherproof outdoor enclosures.
I searched on internet, and found that rachio 3 is no longer support homekit.
I don't doubt that replacement of an existing indoor controller or installation of a new indoor controller is as easy as rachio... Read More

The old controller handled all 20 zones but an expensive monthly subscription service and additional module are required to achieve remote access and weather data for the controller to use in modifying the watering schedule

Admittedly this might not work well in areas that dont have necessary water pressure
