Pros & Cons
Pros
The db25-g comes with the radio, microphone, mounting bracket, power cable and a programming cable. It can be programmed with chirp software. The radio is very configurable.
The db25-g is a good little radio. Small compact size but lots of bells and whistles. I also like the small size and the fact it has a cooling fan.
Radioddity db25-g is a good gmrs mobile radio. It's the best i've encountered on a gmrs or even cb radio. Gmrs is meant to be simple for the non-ham radio types.
Worked like a champ. It works, however, the windows are all fixed sizes.
Best feature is the ability to use all channels for gmrs simplex or duplex. Split tones are also supported. Channel selector is the same way but it’s more tight.
Cons
Time to toss it out and by the midland.
The power wire is quite a small ga for a 25w radio. The other one i got has a much thicker wire. The db-20g is a better bet.
Mine won’t transmit. That’s 80 mhz. I do a factory reset and it will work again for a day.
The keys feel cheap, they are small and difficult to use, and the general ergonomics are awful. Channel selector knob is unusable because it butts up against the connection for the mic. Volume pot is weak, comes off and very scratchy.
Fpp is not intuitive - trying to program from the front panel is a royal pita because it only uses the bottom two lines of the 4 line display. They never mention that to configure aprs, you need a windows computer. The programming software is terrible... Read More
Highlights
Quality
Very good product, easy to use and works really well
Very impressed with the quality and sound.
The mic feels really cheap and to lite weight, plus the cord is very stiff adding to the cheap feel of the mic.
I purchased 2 of these radios and one stopped working after six months.
Price
It is very affordable and does work, talked to someone 15 miles away on simplex.
Overall - good radio for the 86$ i bought for at black friday prices.
The power supplies run $100 and up.
Shipping
After that failed she emailed me a prepaid ups shipping label and i sent the radio back.
I opted to have one shipped and it arrived in just under a week.
My unit did not come with the programming cable but the friendly and prompt customer service offered to refund me or ship one from china.
Packaging/appearance
It is packed with a bunch of additional features, and fully programmable as well.
Right out of the box i hooked it up to my power supply and a mobile antenna and we were "good to go".
(just remember to save all packaging that came with radio.
So, while it was nice to get a programming cable as part of the package it would have been nicer to get one that works!
Competitiveness
Privacy codes are turned off as it arrives which is good as some brands turn the on by default and people can’t figure out why ... Read More
It is an issue between windows 11 and the prolific chipset drivers.
Didn't work out for my application as it's a bit more complicated than some other radios at this price point.
