Part 95 subpart j. Aggressive low pricing. Price is a nice entry point for all of the feature you get. I look forward to learning more about this one.

Radio is rechargeable from power mains using a wall wart power source. Comes with a charger consisting of a brick plug and an usb-c cable that plugs directly into the radio. I like that it charges viausb-c, and not a proprietary charger.

Murs radios work on vhf - which tends to have slightly better signal propagation in places where terrain is challenging. The 150mh frequencies do aid in this, and i can meet my distance objective of 2 miles. The antenna is chintzy, but it works well.

Murs radios are licensed by rule and there is no license fee. This means an individual is not required to acquire an fcc license to operate a murs transmitter. The antenna is removable, which allows the owner to put on optional antennas.

Cons

The manufacturer says 2 miles,maybee if you put up a dozen repeaters in there it might. The frs radio outperformed them by about 1/2 of a mile. Transmitting on channels 1-3 cause any murs radios around to open up theit squelch.

The radio itself is comfortable to hold, and it has a well made feel to it.

As tested, a half mile was solid contact, full quieting; 1 mile solid with some underlying static; 2 miles copyable but weak.

Then the screen died, 1 month after warranty ended.

Overall this radio is an excellent deal for the price.

This is a good budget-friendly murs handheld radio.

Radioddity offered to discount a new radio if i bought a replacement, but this defective radio was almost unused (was my backup) .

This is the same as frs radios, and less than the 5 watts gmrm handhelds offer.

Bottom line:this radioddity radio appears to be functionally equivalent to similar baofeng radios, with some minor aesthetic differences.
