Pros
After eight years the hopper's inside looks a bit 'oily' you choose the correct coarseness and it will never over grind. Yes the packaging comes messy but its because they test the machine before its sent out of italy where its made.
The only downside is the cost, but it is made in italy afterall. Yes, a bit pricey. It is a little expensive for what its is but honestly i would say this is one is a good pick for beginner or not.
Cons
Opening the box to a scuffed up hopper and old coffee everywhere. I have to rock the thing backwards and let it slam forward on the counter multiple times while grinding to get the clumps out. Would not pay retail for this thing.

This product works quite well and is the best budget espresso grinder out there.
Even more than the maker having a quality grinder is the key to consistently great pulls.
But with the understanding that it is not an easy consumer level machine.
I get around this satisfactorily by getting rid of anything that will mess of the taste, and living with the rest.

Please ignore the reviews that mention coffee grounds in the box – rancilio runs real coffee through each machine to make sure that it’s working properly

The rice cleans out the residual coffee and absorbs the oils if not completely then at least adequately
