Unlike cherry switches, there is no o-ring equivalent for the realforce to dampen the sound.
With the cherry mx green, i only got it right about 50% of the time, and came up a character or two short the other times.
Price
At this price i did not expect the manufacturer to take cost cutting shortcuts on materials like this.

Competitiveness
It's why i have 3 topre boards and a topre clone i've kept that i've come to appreciate in its own right.
I'm so hooked on this keyboard that i'm willing to save up and sell my other boards also to try out the uniform 55g version.
For many years ibm model ms with bucking spring switches were my favorite, until i tried topre switches.

I still like the hhkb in its own right but despite also having 45g topre switches i had to lube the stems because the initial feel was harder and a bit scratchy here and there

Its a very subtle thing but both the feel and the quieter meatier thunk of the keys has become like music to my ears and fingertips

I used to joke around with my coworkers about how ridiculous a 200 keyboard must be but after doing some research on these topre boards i became curious and eventually took the dive knowing that amazon would have my back if i was not satisfied

It gives the board a concave profile see pic that produces a cupping feeling so that when you touch type the keys are facing your fingers giving more surface area to strike reducing errors
