Had the same exact experience as previous reviewer. They still have it and are waiting on mtd to replace defective part.

The saw has a tendency to accumulate sawdust in the cowing covering the chain drive sprocket and you have to disassemble it to clean it out. It is prone to collecting debris in the chain gear area requiring frequent clean out. The clutch drum is plast... Read More

Balance is an issue. The unit is underpowered. Be mindful of this. It detracts from the efficient use of the saw.

The only way to tighten the chain is to unscrew the two bolts holding the metal chain guide, move it forward, and retighten the two bolt with one hand. Most saws use a metering valve that pumps oil to the bar and sprocket during use, but this saw does... Read More
