The cord is a heavyduty swivel cord it will not tangle while you use the wand and it does not get hot because it is not heavy enough to handle the wattage

Do not recommend this style for older folks or those with arm crampingweakness issues like me if you do your own hair trying to do back of your head or far side while having to hold your hair on iron was just no fun
