The plates are smooth one had a very slight dent in it when i opened the package not sure who caused this but it hasnt caused me in any issues otherwise i would have sent it back

I was worried the floating plates would snag my hair as this is the biggest problem i face when straightening my hair but the gaps under the plate did not catch on my strands

Edit the only other thing to add is that after just two uses the logo has rubbed off

I dont think that is necessarily true as i have no other reason to believe it is fake and have heard from other review websites that this is common in remington straighteners
