Pros & Cons
Pros
Renogy bt from over a year ago still works for both bt-1 & bt-2. The app re-connects automatically every time i start the app with no issue.
Bluetooth device reports information from the renogy dc50s charge controller. It reports the voltage and amperage going to the battery, from the solar panels and from an alternative source such as a vehicles alternator. Just installed this on my renog... Read More
Cons
The bt-2 does not do a lot - it is the connection between the app (smartphone) and the renogy lifepo battery. The only thing it provides is the current pv wattage amperage and voltage. The admin pw isn't provided in the user's manual. There is no way ... Read More
Do not buy renogy bt-2 for lack of support alone. This also means it will fail to work once their servers go offline. The tracking number shows that a label has been created, and that usps is still waiting for the package from the shipper.
I resent needing to allow renogy access to my location, photos, and everything else in my phone to use this hardware. The app requires you to login to the renogy website before it will work.
Bt2 works fine with one device, however when i added the renogy powered hub and methodically connected an additional battery and then controller through the dc home app, it just freezes up and i can’t see the data from any of the devices. At no point ... Read More
Highlights
Quality
Easy to install and working great on my golf cart conversion.
Unit is easy to plug into the renogy smart lithium battery and the app re-connects automatically every time i start the app with no issue.
Poor instructions, the app is terrible and crashes immediately on newer phone, but not on an older one.
After you plug this device in, disconnect the solar panels, alternator, and battery so the controller has no power for 2 minutes.
Price
This is a much easier and less expensive option than wiring in a shunt.
It's relatively inexpensive so for the price can be considered disposable after 3 years.
Competitiveness
I purchased this at the same time that i purchased a victron shunt and bluetooth monitor.
I can see the difference between the converter charging my battery and my controller charging it.

Took a few tries to get the dc home app to find it

Fyi it limits total charging current to the battery so alternator plus solar is limited to the setting

It gets a little wonky and won’t always refresh until you back out of the app and come back into it but that’s more of a limitation app and not the bt module
