Pros & Cons
Pros
The instruction manual is not the best but the device is very easy to install. The two solar wires as well as the two battery wires are connected on the back of the unit. The renogy voyager 20a handles everything my solar panels throw at it.
Waterproof feature is very handy for keeping everything charging during a sudden downpour. I like that i can read what amperage the panel is outputting (surprised at how little it is) and the voltage of the battery.
Cons
The display stops and the output voltage switches to variable. The solar controller far exceeds this voltage and spikes up to 20 volts! Fortunately my battery has overcharge protection otherwise it would have been damaged by renogy's trash pvm.
Lasted 4 months until it got ruined in rain. Support is overall awful and you'll be luckier trying to get someone over a phone call. Almost 3 weeks later and still no refund. Renogy tech support didn’t own the problem and sent us away rather than help... Read More
Renogy is chinese junk. This definetietly seems cheaply designed. Unless you absolutely need a wether proof unit look elsewhere.
Highlights
Quality
He's very pleased with the overall quality.
He tells me that he is pleased with the productivy and ease-of-use this is.
Small, so stores in a back pack with the cables to the panels when not using.
Price
Very easy to setup, work,s good so far and didn't cost too much!
Overall, great product at a very good price.
Competitiveness
I use a dometic fridge/freezer and the solar charge controller seems to keep up with it just fine.
Im using it in my bugout rig where it was never intended to be used and so far it hasn't failed me yet.
So… i ordered a panel and cheap charge controller from renogy.
Bought this for a single 100w flexible panel.
