Pros

This tool is indispensable for working with mc4 connectors. Using a dab of dialectric grease when assembling the connectors makes them easy to disconnect. For the price it’s a must have if you do solar panels that use mc4 connector.

Cons

The tool slips on the mc4 notched end where the cable enters. The socket size on the tool is much larger than connector cgb nut. Neither of the pairs of prongs on the other end of the tool can easily be used to release themc4 twin spring latches.

Plastic is too thin to press the pins together when disconnecting the mc4 cables. Sae connector to the extension cable/solar controller was reversed, the polarity is backwards. Missing 3 male pins.

Do not be fooled. It is pointless. Not worth 10 cents.

Quality control on this purchase is unacceptable. Submitted a case to renogy and will update review if this issue is corrected. Find another brand.

Tool works great does what it needs to do.

I contacted renogy and they seem unconcerned about this defective product.

With much effort, i was able to get one of them to disconnect with the tool, however no luck with the second one which is still stuck.

So, if you find yourself struggling with the connectors, buy this tool.

Too bad no free shipping to return.

Note the shipping lately has been slow for renogy products so just be patient they will show up if not a day or two late.

Packaging/appearance

They break very easily and one even arrived broken in the bag.
