Cons
This unit is garbage. I have 3 gmrs radios and this is the only one that can't hit the repeater less than 5 miles from my home. The receive and transmit are just weak and feable.
Highlights
Quality
They are very sturdy, they can recharge from a usb c cable, they have good range, and they are very easy to use.
Bottom line: this is an excellent, entry level, no-nonsense, repeater capable, usb-c chargeable, legal, gmrs radio!
It outperforms my rt 76 p easily and at only 3 watts !

A very good bargain for the price.
They sell some really great radios at a really great price.
And they only cost around $15 [price has gone up since my review, but can be found at around $20 now] each for a two pack on amazon.

) i have no idea why retevis does that on all of their radios, as that really makes the radio unusable by most us customers.
I would like to see retivis make spare batteries available for all the hts it sells.
From the factory, it comes with several different ctcss and dcs codes pre-programmed.

It has always been a rule that radios destined for amateur or commercial service not be used for frsgmrsmurs

Recently the fcc cracked down on this and now those radios must be locked out of frsgmrsmurs or the manufacturers could face fines

Radios that cost at most 20 per pair can now no longer be programmed to gmrs

The manufacturers have since come out with 34compliant34 versions of these models some of which are labeled gmrs but come with the caveat that they are not repeater capable
