There is a menu option to not allow you to transmit if another radio is transmitting. Having the ability to reprogram from a pc is really, really nice.

The gmrs license is a no brainer. Full 5 watts gmrs is the place i would put my money today.

The knobs and * are easy to manipulate even with large sausage fingers. Battery allows for direct usb-c charging (ditch the dock!

Good reception on wx. Uses wouxun/baofeng cable. Retevis is the first i've used that offers so much more than the standard blister pack radios. One button weather channel and decent fm radio.

Works out of the box, compatible with most frs and gmrs radios out of the box.

Right out of the box the radios are ready to go.

Competitiveness

They make it easy to use - easier than my older motorola.
