I have used it every day since receiving it and it has been problem free.
You need to be a certified ham radio operator to transmit on any of the channels.

These retevis radios are great for the price and i heartily recommend them.
It requires an fcc gmrs license which is purchased on fcc site for $70 for no limit to radios within your family.
The fcc can fine you up to $10,000 for just pressing the ptt button.
For the price of this radio it is worth a try.

The battery arrived and appeared to have been used.
I contacted angela in customer support via email and she sent a replacement battery which arrived in about 72 hours.
Competitiveness
This model is comparable to radios that cost three and four times as much as the retevis rt29.
There is a huge/big difference between gmrs and ham licenses.
It uses the same as the ailunce hd1 battery.

As other have debated this radio is classified as an fcc part 97 radio which is regulated for ha ham amateur use bands

This is not an fcc part 95 accepted radio approved for prs frs gmrs or any other band outside of part 97

Yes it can be programmed to transmit and receive on part 95 frequencies but that doesnt make it 34legal34 to do so
