This gives it a much more realistic and elegant look than going with the plastic stuff.
That the product was delivered without any major damage, other than to the box is a miracle.
Part count was low with the exception of the shields and oars.
There may be some historical issues with the shields and sail image, but it's an interesting model nonetheless.
Shipping
Since i omitted them, i just glued a knot to the side of the ship instead, and it seemed to work well.
My wife customized the ship to match my favorite vikings funko pop!
First of all the product would have gotten five stars if it wasn't for shipping issues.
These are approximately 4 mm parts that have a 1 mm peg to fit in a peg hole on the side of the ship.
Packaging/appearance
Lets hope they correct their packaging issue.
Competitiveness
Some pieces have a little excess plastic, but it was usually pretty obvious and easy to remedy with an x-acto knife.
This is one of the most challenging models i have ever put together but also the funnest
I'd suggest removing them from the racks with an x-acto knife to minimize the risk of breaking anything.
That looked a lot less junior high mascot.

It all looks incredibly realistic and the designs on the shields are very well done the bosses on the shields themselves stick out inexperienced modelers beware so you run the potential risk of ripping the decal

The sail and yard arm has to be fastened on by string that comes with the kit so you have to tie it on manually

As others have said the provided sail decal is not the one shown in the picture and indeed looks like a high school mascot its a modernlooking anachronistic drawing of a vikings head so i just omitted it

Perhaps you can just paint your own which was probably the case for the picture shown

As i was working on other parts of the ship i bumped the shields a few times and sometimes the decals would detach a little but they never came off

The plastic parts were generally very good and none broke

These pieces have a big role later though lines are actually fastened around these cleats so you need to glue them well if you can because theyll have to sustain the tension from the lines
