Pros & Cons
Pros
This thing has amazing suction power. What you * up is sufficiently filtered and deposited into the base. The suction is awesome, and all of the attachments have come in handy.
It is usually stored in the barn or shed. It also fits ridgid table saws too. For most general woodworking mess, it works great. Great for sawdust, cleaning garden paths and even slurping up dusty soil.
Long cord, long hose, quite portable. The gutter kit contains 2 extension tubes (identical to the ones that come with the vacuum) and a candy cane shaped piece for the end which fits into the gutter. Wish they had included an adapter to reduce the hos... Read More
The wd1450 is the best shop vac i ever bought. It vacuums dirt and dust better than my old dyson. This vac cleans the floors smooth with one pass.
The hepa filter can be cleaned and reused--be sure to do it outside. But it also means that you are locked in with rigid filters for life, thanks to that sneaky patent. Haven't tried the hepa filter yet. There was an insert explaining the vf5000 filte... Read More
Cons
It's quiet alright, unfortunately for me, at the expense of its suction power. The cannister/motor latches are unsafely designed with sharp right angle edges with can easily catch one's fingers when latching the motor to the cannister.
Highlights
Quality
Very easy to maneuver and quite light in weight.
The suction is really strong, and we have it on for about 6-8 straight hours a day and somehow it never overheats.

I have been torn between buying a several hundred dollar vacuum versus another big-box-store vacuum for under $200.
Shipping
Shipping seemed to take forever, but was actually only about a week.
Had some damage when product first arrived, but customer service was quick to correct the problem and sent out a replacement in two days.
Packaging/appearance
Everything was boxed up well and performance of the vacuum is great.
My only complaint is that i tossed the box which is apparently required to register it for warranty because the box has a "pack... Read More
Competitiveness
Compared to my shop-vac, this vacuum is far superior in suction and quality.
The wd1450 is the best shop vac i ever bought.
I looked at a lot of reviews from several websites, and the ridgid brand kept popping up everywhere.
This "muffler" is the exact same as the craftsman muffler sold at sears, or at amazon a little cheaper.
