I think the ring alarm system is excellent the sensor are quite expensive compared to other zwave plus sensors but the alarm system only works correctly with the ring sensors so you have no option but to purchase them you can add other zwave plus sensors but this would only offer alerts and not alarm activation

The previously alarms systems i owned was an era invisible that was always crashing and was not very invisible i then got the eta homeguard pro smart alarm it was not very smart and was very useless the battery would die withing 2 hours during a long power cut it was also costing £5 each month for the sim card service after the last power cut the system wouldnt reconnect to the era alarm cloud services even after them trying to help i couldnt change any setting or get any alerts so chucked the useless thing in the bin

This ring alarm system was set up in minutes having the protect plus subscription for my ring cameras was a bonus as this gives my alarm 3g service that kicks in when my internet drops out this is at no extra cost this also gives the optional monitoring service at no extra cost

I have this set up with routines and options in the ring and alexa apps this would activate recodring on motion with my cameras turns on my front lights and side hue lights when motion is detected then they turn off after 5 minutes

This helps you make the most out of your linked smart home devices by turning on and off routines if you home alarm is set to away you could have lights in the home turn on when motion is detected and delayed so it looks like someone is home in home alarmed mode it would just turn on outdoor lighting as soon as a camera detected any motion without the need to use ifttt or extra motion sensors

Having this alarm for the last 8 months has been great weve not had any false alarms in from any of the sensors only when someone opens the back door without turning the alarm off and the phone call from ring comes along

Easy to install until i got to the doors then bit of a mare but works fine except the delayed exit from the back door but can arm disarm from the app so not a big problem
