Pros & Cons
Pros
New cameras have a wider view, great settings for motion detection. Works great, stands up to -50 windshields here in south dakota which is higher than the specs say. Night vision is great and hd.
I have yet to have issues loading this camera (unlike the solar stick ups which despite good latency are buggy). Excellent customer support. Mystery is why no more of these are available right now or for the foreseeable future. I hope this long out of... Read More
I know there are better systems that are quadruple the price but this does enough. The one drawback or that i don't like about the ring system is that there is no easy way to store your video data locally. The ring service is incredibly affordable, at... Read More
The motion triggers are ultra fast and super nice. Excellent person detection and the ability to create fences for areas of motion.
Cons
Video quality is terrible. The ring app just doesn't work well compared to other cameras apps. I already have too much invested in the video doorbell and stickup cam to switch. The other ring products i installed rarely have that issue.
I have one of eight cameras that is defective. One will not go back into setup mode, so i need to bring it back to town to send it in for an exchange. There is no way to cleanly run the ethernet cable through the mounting bracket and inside the wall.
Highlights
Quality
It was easy to install and the app works great.
Great image quality and motion detection works well!
Its night vision is non-existent, it's video quality is marginal.
With the added metal mount it’s really unattractive for interior use.
Price
The monitoring service works the same as others, however the cost is much less per month/year than what we were paying.
I know there are better systems that are quadruple the price but this does enough.
Packaging/appearance
Camera worked fine out of the box too.
Competitiveness
Because my router is in a room above my garage it was easy to run cat6 cable.
This makes it easy for businesses since it is easy to run cat6 cable yourself.
Biggest issue was dropping a cat6 cable.
After an hour of convo, he suggested the stick up cam elite.
