Pros & Cons
Pros
The robelle winch appears to be much more rugged and sturdy than the cheap winches that come with the pool covers. It's heavier, stronger, and with a much better ratchet mechanism than the others.
This is the second one i've purchased. Works well easy to follow instructions. Other than that it works fine.
Cons
The cable is functional, but the winch is horrendous. Instead of having a proper threaded bolt and washer on the back end of the crank housing, it's a cheap press-fit washer which, as soon as there's any flex in the housing will fly off.
Highlights
Quality
Coating and cable seem top notch and was easy to thread through grommets for our pool cover.
Very well built compared to ones that have come with pool covers
Works well but 3 points: first, you have to be pretty strong to crank it down tightly.
This robelle winch appears to be much more rugged and sturdy than the cheap winches that come with the pool covers.
Price
And less expensive then the pool store.
Wire was perfect size for my pool coverworth the money
Packaging/appearance
This one is just like the one that came with my pool cover.
Competitiveness
Hopefully it will be better than those cheaper ones.
