Pros
These mics are great! They are bright sounding and perfect for over-head mic-ing of cymbals. I use these in my headphone recording rig on the z reviews channel on youtube and they are astonishingly good.
Small size makes hanging as stereo pair over a source much more easier on your mic stands. Also used in a 3-mic set up for drums. It was purchased to be used as overhead mics on the drum set.
Cons
Even as a bargain, these are edgy. I think rode should take the money from these mic's immaculate gold foil packaging.

They seem to be very well made with all metal construction.
Snare, toms and kick already mic'd with mounted shures.
Had been using generic pylepdkm7 overheads and wow you know you're nowdealing with real mics.
Price
This mic is outstanding for the price i was surprised that it recorded so well.
These are worth every penny and then some!
The price for these microphones was reasonable too.
At this price range, these mics are a steal.
Packaging/appearance
Yes, i bought slightly used microphones box and pop filters microphone stands all included and packaging still like new.
The packaging is a good storage container.
Competitiveness
I can't find anything anywhere close to this price range that even remotely competes with the rode m5s.
No artificial artefacts that other more expensive mics tend to add.
Based on some a/b comparisons with more expensive options -- these little m5's seemed like a relatively inexpensive entry into this for me.

I mounted these in an xy pattern above a concert band conductors head and could capture sound very clearly

Some reviews i read mentioned that this is a bright sounding mic pair as the audio frequencies increase on the higher end but its honestly negligible

The mics did have a buzz probably a 60hz from being too close to a power cable somewhere in the wire routing but i put both cables through a ferrite core and that knocked it out

Elna magnetics pn 0431176451 or 0431177081 should do the trick if you need one

The microphones i was using before i got these were very good but the rode m5 has a more richer tone and more clarity
