It does pic up the noise of the wind generated by the fan but with the dead cat on you couldnt hear the wind from the ceiling fan and it even improved the overall quality of the audio recording

One star off because the mic wont work with the otter box i have around my galaxy s8 coupled with the fact that rode does not have android versions of its inhouse smartphone software to assist you in getting better audio quality from your mic

If you have an iphone ipad or ipod that does not have a headphone jack you will have to buy an adapter to make this work even though the box explicitly states for use with iphone and ipad

This is a terrific addon if youre the type to record your videos on your iphone or ipad the directional microphone is a vast improvement over the onboard mic way less background and ambient noise
