Pros & Cons
Pros
The uni korutoga is near perfection, but the auto-rotating lead is inconsistent. The eraser end is silver and red. The barrel is a matte, cross-hatched black. A sharpie fine point cap fits perfectly well. I just use a seperate eraser so that is not an... Read More
This is the cheapest rotring mechanical pencil. The twist mechanism will protect the pointy metal part that the lead comes out of. Took me about an hour and a half total to fish hook it out using bent paper clips.
This is perfection and i love it. To me personally the click feels much more superior. Almost as if it was sent down to me from the heaven's itself.
Cons
It breaks easily. Tried contacting rotring twice about getting a replacement tip if available, and got no response. Amazon says, “limited guaranteed for 2 years from original purchase date against defects in materials or workmanship”, but i can't seem... Read More
When you work your pencils are prone to fall from your desk. This time there was no bending it back. One drop and the tip bends.
The design of this pencil is terrible, which revolves around the eraser. The eraser is not retractable so once you use the ~1/4 inch of the initially exposed part, you have to discard the whole thing.
Highlights
Quality
Very solid, precision construction, with no wiggles or slack anywhere.
High quality construction, has good hand feel.
Due to the knurled grip, it is not slippery at all and remains grippy no matter what your hand is coated with.
In this case i 3d printed a cap for the pencil in the case that it would fall out of my pocket and break.
Price
I was hesitant to buy this pencil, because who buys a pencil for $30, but i can say it has been worth it.
I would never spend this much money on a pencil for myself, but it makes a great long-lasting gift.
If you want to be all fancy you can cough up that extra $20 for the rotring 800 and twist the guide to safety.
This is the cheapest rotring mechanical pencil and it's really somewhat of a bargain if you can get it for under $20 here on am... Read More
Packaging/appearance
Only big thing i don't like is the flimsy box it came in, yet it came in perfectly functional and brand new.
Competitiveness
), the 600 series is a fantastic alternative.
Unlike the 500, the 600 has a metal barrel as well as grip and both ends.
My rotring 600 is my all-time favorite pen, even though you can no longer get the refills and i have to use other brands.
