Pros & Cons
Pros
It's not as smooth as my gel pens but it is still smooth and glides easily across the paper. A cross ballpoint pen that i'm currently using has a much smoother writing experience even though it's still on the same refill cartridge that originally came... Read More
The pen is quite nice looking with the typical drafting appearance. The twist click mechanism is very satisfying to use. This pen is much more user friendly in that area.
This german design is simple and well-crafted. Typical high quality product ze germans are notorious for. This seems to be of a very, very similar design to their mechanical pencil.
Cons
The pen is expensive, but it's not a bic or a papermate, so you get what you pay for. What a disappointment.
The pen wobbles and knocks if not set down in a certain way. The hexagonal shaft keeps the pen from rolling but is uncomfortable to hold. The ink does not flow consistently; often skips.
Highlights
Quality
The pen itself feels solid, knurled grip, incredibly well built, this is a lifetime pen.
All metal construction is very durable and reliable.
The corresponding pencil definitely needed to be handled with much more care since a single drop could bend the delicate tip an... Read More
The twist and click is very much the old style rotring mechanical for exposing the ballpoint.
Price
We are stealing these pens at this price.
I cannot think of any problems, annoyances, or issues with this pen besides the price :)
This isn't an expensive pen as in a mont blanc starting at 3 figures in their least expensive pen, and for someone who is happy... Read More
If you pay retail price for this i don't think it's worth it.
Packaging/appearance
Comes in a simple paper box instead of a wasteful gift box or ugly plastic clamshell.
This pen is presented in a simple but cool triangular box.
Competitiveness
It's better than most available in the office stores.
I understand that i could research and buy better refills for the 800, but frankly, i don't want to have to do that and pay $5 ... Read More
With many brands, my handwriting is still hard to read.
Actually, rotring is better known for their mechanical pencils - a tool used by designers and by people doing technical work.
