The bowl is smooth and well polished. The bottom features a rubbery base to protect the marble. There is a soft padding on the bottom to hold it still on a smooth counter.

I had one of these that i use for my meds next to my bed at night, it works great.
This pad is adhered with glue and cannot be easily removed.
The inside is evenly turned and also smooth, although it isn't brought to a mirror polish like the outside.
