Pros & Cons

Update Pros and Cons

Pros

Never knew there would be such a difference with a collander. This one is bigger, very sturdy and efficient. I'm honestly not sure what the negative reviews are about.

Cons

The top of the colander has a nearly microscopic bevel around each hole. The corners of the edge that are supposed to go against a pot are square and sharp.

Arrived obviously bent/damaged- so did replacement. I suppose it isn't that big of a deal (unless your'e straining something besides water) it's just one more step to finish the straining process that is so unnecessary.

Quality

Great little colander for small meals like making pasta for 2 and it's very sturdy and should last a very long time.

It works well, is very sturdy, and is easy to clean.

Having a quarter of your elbow macaroni escape and end up in the sink is sort of a fail.

It hasn't shown any signs of rust (been using it almost daily for a month and i don't dry it immediately).

Price

Thought it was a bit pricey for a strainer, but it is well worth the money.

Small price to pay for all its other plusses.

Shipping

First one arrived was damaged so i returned it and received a replacement within a couple of days.

Competitiveness

There’s a reason that america’s test kitchen picked this colander as the best.

America's test kitchen recommended this, and it beat the one i bought just a few years ago.

In many ways its more convenient than a colander for draining smaller batches but it generally takes two hands and a bit of care if you dont want to lose a bunch of whatever youre draining
