The cap screws on snugly and easily and the gasket in the cap prevents leaking even when bottle is thrown into a backpack

One time he didnt screw the lid on correctly and it leaked all over his backpack but after that he knows it has to be lined up correctly and there hasnt been a leak sincei

It keeps his water cold for a few hours but not much longer than that so it rarely gets used and ice is used instead

The camelback has an amazing base but the cover has to be twisted at least 3 times more which makes it really annoying for a younger kid to take the cover on and off
