It does both of those things incredibly well. It also works well when you are trying to get that campfire lit. This on works.

Even a small ryobi battery lasts hours. Batteries are interchangeable.

Cons

When using to air up an air mattress for a cot, this device gets really hot around the upper grip of device by the air vent exit fan. Broke on second use.
