Pros & Cons

Update Pros and Cons

Pros

This is the best shrub trimmer i have ever owned. It rotates right and left for ease of trimming both sides of the hedge. It cuts through thicker branches than i thought, and it never stalled. It is plenty sharp and powerful enough for bushes and smal...  Read More

It's not as lightweight as i thought it would be, but is not overly heavy. Thumbs up but not for the frail or arthritic type.

For battery hedge clippers, i think the 80$ range would be a bit more on the mark. I have been pleased by ryobi products in the past, including a power drill and a * *.

Cons

The teeth on the blade gear break easily and you have to replace the entire blade assembly at $40. Does not come with battery.

Quality

Light weight, functional rotation at the grip, cut through hedges no problem even finger sized limbs.

I like the adjustable handle, the adequacy of the length of the blade, and the overall features such as the protective storage sheath and.

Brush and small trees overgrow the road such that they have to be cut back to avoid scratching and damaging any traffic.

Best of all when i went to recharge the battery it took only ten minutes to recharge.

Price

Reason for 4 stars not 5: a little pricey on amazon.

I bought this on sale at home depot for $68 great little tool cut my bushes easily.

In total, i paid $277 for this trimmer, batteries and charger.

The charger cost an additional $40, and the battery came in a 2-battery pack for $129.

Shipping

I am sure the ups delivery van dreads a visit.

Packaging/appearance

Dense boxwood that had branches up to 3/8" thick was cut like butter.

Competitiveness

The trimmer is heavier than some i have tried (two other brands loaned to me by my neighbors).

I have a lot of different ryobi tools and wanted to add another 18v to the arsenal.
