Pros & Cons

Pros

This works perfectly. I usually purchase prehung doors but the cost of anything nowadays is crazy. Otherwise it works beautifully!

It's easy to use and works great. Instructions are easy to follow. Like the ease of use.

I highly recommend this for the diy homeowner that has shied away from tackling a somewhat daunting job. Not suitable for frequent professional use, but extremely handy for the infrequent need to mortise a hinge.

Cons

Mine came stripped out of the box. The plastic one is already striped from trying it the first time anyway. Only does door slabs, can't be used for mortising jambs. Sending it back for a refund.

Big letdown. Every time the bearing of the bit tries to ride along the guide it rattles out or up. When you tighten the template onto the door edge, the gray plastic stop tends to raise up. This causes one side of the routed recess to not be as deep.

Quality

This tool made installing new doors & hardware easy peasy!

The product is easy to use and comes will all the necessary accessories including a self-centering drill bit for the hinge screws.

The first time i used it, the plastic inserts for rounded-edge hinges stuck out and made the cut too small for the hinge to fit properly.

I screwed up cutting down a solid core door on the wrong end.

Price

This is a great jig at a great price including hinge bit and router bit.

Its a great value, and i would pay a bit more to have the inside lining have some metal to protect it.

This 30 dollar jig probably saved me 1k.

I would buy it again, even though it seemed a little bit expensive for what it is.

Packaging/appearance

The box was received open, the tape on the box was punch open, but item was there .

Id bought this because i had to hang a door and i was already using ryobi stuff so i figured i was less likely to have compatibility issues

I would note that hinges i had were exactly the size of the notches i made with this tool so if your markings were off by even 1100 of an inch and of course mine were youll need to widen the notches a bit for any subsequent hinges

The bad its all plastic even the clamp parts

It worked fine for me and im sure i could do several more doors with it but its definitely not pro quality and i cant imagine that it would survive a lot of use

I screwed up cutting down a solid core door on the wrong end

I simply used this to recut the mortise in the door and lifted the door up a 14 inch

Without this jig i would have made a bigger mess

This 30 dollar jig probably saved me 1k
