Eventually i found a way to make an airtight connection but that was fiddly

Fortunately the technical department at ryobi had a solution the best method is available in a ryobi video that they emailed out to me

The currently supplied connector is now not the simple brass screwon type shown in the photos and their current marketing video rather its a quick fit and quick release type

I had been trying to attach the connector by pushing it onto the valve by holding the small diameter black crimped coupling that connects the connector to the high pressure hose

The grey shroud can be easily pushed forwards by sliding your finger from the black fitting onto the grey

Ive not tried it on inflating air beds but i dont envisage it being a problem
