That being said if youre looking to convert an ide drive for more longterm use this will not be a good fit

It is not easy to find hdd enclosures that use the ide interface anymore this technology is considerably outdated

However when my sisterinlaws portable hdd was no longer recognized by her or any other computer everything indicated the enclosures control board was shot

Need something that was capable of connecting an older ide drive to a current computer so that i could suck the files off

I cloned my laptop to an ssd using this enclosure then swapped drives in laptop

All you have to be able to do is use a screwdriver to remove the hard drive from your laptop and slip it into the case
