Pros & Cons
Pros
Easy to setup and use. Already have one exactly like it but with a different brand - the good news is that the other has been a dependable unit. The sleek grey design adds a modern touch to my poultry setup.
Egg turner, temperature controlled and adjustable for different types of eggs. The card is very helpful, though, in that in has when you should candle the egg and when your lockdown starts and what to do. The egg candler.
The sailvono incubator is easy to operate. You manually add water every two days for your correct humidity. This is the first incubator that we've ever used, so we made 'newbie' mistakes.
Excellent incubator for hatching chicken and quail eggs. Comes with some water and feeding containers for once the chicks hatch.
Comes with a little styrofoam box for insulation. This one is pretty well made but could use more insulation. Keeps all the eggs at an equal temp.
Cons
Large openings near edges create a potential drowning hazard for newly hatched chicks. There also isn't a humidity gauge. Gaps along the edge are too wide allowing chicks that did hatch to get caught by toes and wings.
Highlights
Quality
I’ve already hatched a couple of chicks, and this hatchery has made the entire process efficient and stress-free.
The onboard temperature readout ensures precise conditions, which is crucial for successful hatching.
Any change of temps in the room caused too much fluctuation in temp for the incubator resulting in poor hatch rates.
The actual hatching part was unexpectedly nerve-wracking for me, lol.
Price
I'd say this would be a cheap way to try it out in a classroom, though, for $27.
We were tired of buying the with the prices going up for hens then ending up with too many roosters.
So for the price point i feel this is a good buy.
This isn't really that big a deal as you can do that yourself by pouring water directly into the egg chamber.
Packaging/appearance
Comes with a little styrofoam box for insulation.
Competitiveness
This sailvono incubator is actually the same unit that is marketed under a number of brand names.
Jury is still out on if it's better than the roller design i'm use to seeing.
