Pros & Cons
Pros
The tread grips rocks and roots incredibly well, even when wet. The walking surface varies from wood chips to bituminous concrete to concrete. Arch support is also excellent.
Followed on line instructions for determining size. Runs about 1/2 size small but i just wear thinner socks and that seems to do the trick. Toe box is slightly too narrow by american standards, but it's not a dealbreaker.
They are as light as running shoes, comfortable and have solid heel/ arch support. They are light and nimble and feel like running shoes. I use them for mountain biking which sometime requires me to carry my bike up steap dirt hills.
Had to buy a new pair of hiking shoes simply due to their silliness with laces. I'm ok with the wear on the soles prompting me to replace a shoe that still looks good after a year of use.
Good overall. Salomon really stands behind their products. These are fantastic!
Highlights
Quality
And i'm ok with the wear on the soles prompting me to replace a shoe that still looks good after a year of use.
You wouldn't think so but these are actually worth the money because quality.
I agree with some of the others with the grip being slippery when wet with certain glossy surfaces (water smoothed granite for example).
Product a bit stiffer and i comfortable at first.
Price
Price is a bit steep but it'll last 6-10 years of casual wearers.
Materials look of good quality, price was in the middle of the pack for this type of shoe.
Packaging/appearance
These shoes were comfortable right out of the box.
I washed the stink out of the insoles (they dry over night, no problem), but the stink in the shoe was harder to deal with while traveling.
Competitiveness
By far my favorite goretex hiking shoes!
The goretex cleaned up and looked good heading home.
So i am trying to find a new favorite brand.
