Pros & Cons
Pros
I like the stiffness that give very good ankle support. Great support for the ankles and has great traction. Comfy and tough as heck.
The adapt insole is a little bit more flexible or less structured than the trailblazer. This is what you want in a hiking boot. They are my work boots as well as my hiking and adventure motorcycle riding boots.
They're lightweight - so excellent for hiking uphill. Less tiring than heavy-duty hiking boots. Still tend to roll my ankles on trails that are a bit more uneven, especially when descending steeper terrain.
Narrow, roomy toe box. Nice and snug with medium wool socks. You need to wear thick socks because the first few days wearing you may get blisters.
Cons
The boot has way too much give in a crucial area - the instep. The tongue of the boot also seems to have changed for the worse. It seems less cushioned and of a cheaper material. Not enough glue or poor quality glue on the sole and between materials.
"i wonder if these were imitation solomon or if solomon quality is going downhill. Im very disappointed to see solomon release such a low quality product.

That said, i did the entire alaska trip with the trailblazer insoles.
A little pricey, when i compare them with the performance and comfort i feel with my knee high $100 snake boots.
Packaging/appearance
1) no break in needed as the boots were comfortable right out of the box.
I often have the laces slipping out while tying the lowas and have even had them slip out while hiking.
Salomon quest 4s are made to be worn until kaput - then recycled.
Competitiveness
If i'm going to spend the whole day doing a lot of quick-paced hiking on soft trails with a lot of ascents, the solomon quest 4... Read More
A friend reccomended thisbrand as pricey but worth every penny, and alot more.
Just know, because they are made of lighter, less durable materials, they will not last as long as heavy-duty hiking boots.
