Pros & Cons
Pros
The lacing system makes these extremely secure on your feet and easy to put on and take off. These are light, sturdy and comfortable.
New version uses salomon’s own waterproof membrane. Perfect for shopping, park, zoo, exploring the woods. It also is very waterproof.
These lightweight boots are extremely comfortable hiking boots. Well cushioned insoles and an aggressive outsole make these an excellent hiking boot for all trail types. Can feel pebbles and small rocks through soles.
Cons
While the traction was commendable, these boots fail to justify their cost for serious hikers. Hard insole, no cushioning & stiff construction. Not a comfortable shoe.
The way they lace causes lace bite across the top of the foot. The eyelets for the laces around the ankle are to far apart, which doesn't allow you to cinch up around the boot tongue and ankle. It also appears that you cannot order a wide in these to ... Read More
Highlights
Quality
The quality of the material is exceptional and should last for many years.
They are very well made and have great ankle support as well.
We have returned our fair share of shoes because the arch wasn’t supportive or they weren’t a good fit.
Only downside is the lacing system leaves the boot very open to dirt and debris with a wide opening even when tied tightly.
Price
For the sale price of less than 100, a great deal.
And the price for me was incredible (~$80).
They have a good price point for the product.
Other than that i believe the product is worth asking price.
Shipping
Came in the mail today and i fit the shoes it was a great fit.
I sent it back and the price changed and was more than the original and was delayed again arriving late.
It was delayed due to weather, which is no one’s fault but it got here a week late and was the wrong size.
I walk 8-10 miles a day delivering mail, lately in very cold weather and snow.
Competitiveness
My last pair of x ultras got me up many 14ers, to the bottom of the grand canyon, and through many airports and cities around the world.
These shoes are not pure black, which is not used where some companies allow only black shoes.
The toes are somewhat protected by a rubber lip, but the toe box is narrower than keens and merrells.
The pioneer version seems just as good as the last and with maybe even better comfort out of the box.
