Pros

The remote lacks a lighted keypad this should be standard these days. The remote is no problem for us or the kids it isnt bad at all. It has a few more * than a regular remote but nothing overwhelming.

Dvd image quality is very good. Playback/pause works smoothly, although ff/rew scan takes some getting used to if you're coming from the vcr world. A bit wider than my original vcr.

Cons

The dvd player takes forever to read and review the dvd before beginning play or display of menu. The remote is very limited, and not at all intuitive.

Great buy and the combo takes up less space than having two electronics.

Worst feature: lack of programming for universal remote.

This is a real pain if you use picture-in-picture (pip) as i do, you then have to press the tv/vcr button after changing channels.

Price

If you want like ultra amazing picture that you need to zoom in 8x to notice, you might want to shell out that extra $.

For a reasonable price, you too may enjoy the high quality sound and picture of the samsung dvd-v1000.
