It is also a very good am radio so i will not return it for the smaller one. The features are better than most for its size.
Tuner very sensitive. No problems with tuning, fm stereo, etc.
Cons
My experience tells me the entire line stinks. Quality is questionable. First purchase in 2011 performs much better than my purchase made in january 2018, for some reason.
The tuner is broke. I get horrible background static on all channels. In australia the am channels dont go up by increments of 10, so therefore it wont go onto my favourite channel. Some sangean radios have above average reception but not this unit.

I have used it for several weeks and am impressed with its receptivity, sound quality, and sturdy construction.
The sound quality is excellent and volume control is perfect.
Though the battery life sucked, drained within two nights, had to change batteries twice a week
Dropped many times, finally tuning button broke.
Price
For the money, this is a nice radio, compact, light weight and has clear reception in stereo.

Competitiveness
Both sangean seems to have very similar sensitivity, a bit less than degen but noticeable better than ccrane pocket.
Overall, i found this dt 180 the best of current packet radios.
I have another radio made by sangean but it did not have the timer to shut-off in 90 minutes.
