I actually suspect that theyre unnecessary maybe some lawyer insisted that they be added as a redundant safety feature and thats why theyre difficult to use unlike everything else about this bike rack

My biggest issue was that toyota stopped selling hitch attachments for my minivan so it took forever to be able to actually hook this up

Since my kids are getting older and their bikes are getting bigger i think i might actually be looking at saris freedom superclamp 4 bike rack in the not too distant future

It holds your bikes by the wheels so there is no frame contact

The wheel trays accommodate up to 4 tires and it doesnt matter what width tire you have the bike is still held firmly in place

I cant see my license plate when a trunk is mounted on the cargo carrier
