I just took it on the highway sans bike and looking in the rear view mirror it did not budge a fraction of an inch

The only two things i would recommend are using something to protect the top of the trunk of scratching like a piece of cloth or something because the rack keeps bouncing while driving so the rubber moves a bit away making the steel to touch the top of the trunk and make sure you secure the straps really well with a lot of knots and make it very tight otherwise you will have to stop ever 30min to adjust it
