Pros & Cons
Pros
I am notoriously hard on bikes as most of the cheaper bikes i've bought are pretty much thrashed within a year or two. Pedals and seat are no sweat. He is 6 and this bike fits him perfectly.
Good materials and build quality including routing the cables through the frame. Seems like a good bike, tho quite heavy. It is noticeably lighter than our other bikes as this one is aluminum and the others are steel.
I find it very reliable. It is perfect. Bought this for my 13 yr. Old son. Both are excellent value for the money.
Cons
It’s going back. I imagine the technicians at schwinn snickering as they assembled this one. I suggest other buyers stay away from this product.
This is the third time my pedal fell off while i was riding it. Multiple bad scratches, bent back tire, bent front fork and multiple parts/pieces missing.
Bike is way heavier than described. That bike is way to heavy for 9/11 yo. Its not a premium bike any more.
Highlights
Quality
Our daughter loves it, great quality bike.
Impressed with the quality of this bike!
It is not a good design to depend on friction to hold its position as the bar can easily slip and rotate.
Apparently the brake disk and assembly are not aligning properly the disk is hitting the top of the brake assembly requiring shims.
Price
It’s a great bike for the money.
Great bike for the price, especially if you are a casual rider.
Yesterday morning, i noticed that the same bike was listed at $196 plus tax.
In conclusion, with the price of this one (it was on sale), i would say this a pretty good bike for the money.
Shipping
Came early and was easier to assemble then my more expensive bike.
Even arrived the day before it was suppose to.
I found that i got to my destination in almost half the time than my old bike!
Good news, contacted pacificcycle and with out any hesitation or aggravation the pleasant person sent out replacement parts under warranty.
Packaging/appearance
I was very impressed with how well the packaging was.
It seemed to be well packaged with parts tie strapped and encased in protective wrap.
The (opened) box with pedals and front tire quick release skewer was missing the adjustment nut.
Competitiveness
Other similar schwinn mountain bike models were priced in the mid- to high-$400's by comparison.
Also, it seems that alot of bike manufacturers are making 'unisex ' style models so that the bar in front of the seat is higher... Read More
