Maybe i did wrong but i put the metal part on the phone under the cover and my cover is thin but wont hold much with the mount i had to order an additional metal piece to put it outside of the cover so the phone can stay attached to the mount

It say right on there to test in an inconspicuous spot first as it can cause discoloration

I actually purchased one other product but the magnet wasn’t strong enough to hold the phone so i returned it
