Pros
Super overpriced but works well. Easy to use; easy to install. Bad reviews for this product are just improper installation.
The very slim metal plate fits between my phonex and the apple leather case! This magnetic one is excellent. The magnetic hold seems to be strong enough for slightly heavier devices. It is a powerful magnet and it stays on very well while driving.
Cons
Scosche has the weakest magnet of the lot. Even then, the bottom pivot starts going down during drive. Both rotating parts magnet top & adhesive bottom are very stiff to rotate/adjust.
Ended up using my own double sided tape. Bad adhesion. Now i have a mount that's unusable, or need to spend more money to get an adhesive that works.

Plus since they have magnets on both sides they can pull off with the phone when trying to remove just the phone.
Packaging/appearance
Wait for an amazon warehouse return and hope they junked the packaging.
3/4 of the price of this product is in the packaging.
Competitiveness
As with most scosche products, i buy one and my only regret is not buying two.

The swivel joints arent strong enough to hold the phone in an upright position and the phone will occasional slide this is because i have the backplate slightly low on the back of the phone which makes the phone top heavy this causes the phone to slide downrotate while the magnet tries to center on the metal plate
