Pros & Cons
Pros
The ultra-sil dry bag is made from 30d diamond ripstop siliconized cordura nylon. The nylon itself, is cordura brand, which is always a plus. It's still decently abrasion resistant.
Sea to summit is a well-designed buckle that uses a philips head pin for installation and removal. They tend to be durable, lightweight, and waterproof to meet my needs. But the bigger one is super heavy-duty, and thicker.
The osprey daylite plus is a great size for storing electronics. The bag rolls down easily and is easy to pack up.
The bag is extremely lightweight and the color is vibrant. The spicy orange color stands out if you are concerned about misplacing it. Like other lightweight bags, the material is thin so it's best to treat it carefully.
The ultra-sil dry bag is waterproof to 2000mm hydrostatic head. This provides decent enough protection.
Cons
This bag is so thin you might as well just use a large ziploc bag to keep your things dry.
Highlights
Quality
Super light weight, lots of room, waterproof, ability to compress down nicely and hold its shape once its clipped.
Ultra-sil fabric is great, siliconized fabric that is very nice.
This "ultra sil" fabric is rated as waterproof to 2000mm hydrostatic head.
Of the 3, the ultra-sil dry bag is the odd one out with its small volume, no compression, and lack of the excellent evac system.
Price
I recommend this product for any avid outdoorsman or camper, and for the price.
That they will happily sell to you for six times the cost of a typical repair buckle.
While on the pricey side, you definitely get what you pay for with this one.
Packaging/appearance
Packed my down jacket in it as a pillow for the flight, and really love the color - zinnia yellow.
I have always carried a large trashbag in the bottom of my pack for when i need to use it as a pack liner for wet conditions or... Read More
The waterproof rating is 2,000mm so it is fine for packing extra clothing or gear inside of a pack.
I found that this dry bag was thin but still easy to pack and extremely lightweight which will be great for day trips.
Competitiveness
This is in contrast to the 70d nylon used on the regular dry bags and the really impressive 420d nylon of the heavy duties.
As a point of comparison, 20d is the heaviest weight fabric enlightened equipment offers for their commercial line products.
I would quite happily recommend them as well as many of sea to summit's other products.
